Like a complete idiot I forgot to take my list of books to the library so tried looking for a few on the shelves by memory after popping to Knowle & Solihull with Charlotte today, I did manage to pick up three book:

The Forties Fashion and The New Look book I was hoping to read, which flicking through looks full of old war posters, photographs of women working during the war and the fashion which is fab.
Dress & Undress which didn't come up on the Library site last night when I was looking for books but I found it in the Greek Mythology section so that was a nice surprise. It's full of images & information on womens underwear throughout history so I'm also looking forward to reading that.
The last book I found was this autobiography on Bette Davis which I can't wait to read sadly I couldn't find Marilyn's, Jackie O's or Jayne Mansfields
I plan on getting all of these read first before going back to get three or four more as it's going to take me a while to get through them, but I have them all for a month so it's time to get reading.
We also wandered round charity shops & home stores to get an idea of what I need when I move in to my house so heres an impractical list of things I'd like for my house but at the moment pretty much out of my price rang:

I was reading the mini biography on Pola Negri [Barbara Apolonia Chalupiec] on QueenofVintage.Com and decided to research her online & founds lots of images and information most saying she was a famous silent movie actress in the roaring 20's and the last true Vamp. This made me think about the Burlesque act I'd like to put together, a stage name and all the other little details and I though that Pola would be an amazing woman, Femme Fatale some might say to base my look and act around. As much as I love Gyspsy Rose Lee, Dita Von Teese, Bettie Mae Page, Jayne Mansfield, Marilyn Monroe there all a little to cliche and been done before but Pola I feel could be something different to emulate or at least be inspired by. The silent movies are amazing reference too due to the fact Burlesque acts are silent preformance art, Pola's look is very Vamp with dark smokey eyes, dark red lips and a very 20s black sleek bob [not sure I'd go as far as the hair cut and colour but we'll see]
I should probably watch some more of her movies & read a biography or two to get a feel of her character, manerisms and details I could take and incorporate in to a routine / costume and overall show.
If you want to read the short autobiography/ look in to Pola go to: QueensofVintage.com/Pola-Negri-the-last-vamp
And after ages of coming up with different stage names from Miss.Monster, Magenta Von Gin, Von Vargas, Von Vamp and then Miss. Monster Von Vamp and Miss. Monster Von Vargas I think I'd like to stick with / go with just Von Vamp it's shorter than Miss.mOnster Von Vamp and I think it sounds better. VV.
